A Celebration of Dennis Brown’s Legacy and the Launch of Yvonne’s Special Label Refresh
The Dennis Brown Estate has released the Salaam Remi Remix of the singer’s Where Did The Love Go, initially produced by Maurice “Jack Scorpio” Johnson for the Black Scorpio label. This remix initiates a new phase in Dennis Brown’s remarkable legacy as the first of several upcoming releases under the refreshed Yvonne’s Special Label. Named after Dennis’ wife Yvonne Brown, Yvonne’s Special embodies the inspiration she provided to his life and artistry.
Released on January 31, 2025, this single aligns with what would have been Dennis Brown’s 68th birthday on February 1st, making it an ideal way to launch Jamaica’s Reggae Month, celebrating the “Crown Prince of Reggae” and his invaluable contributions on the genre.
This project is brought to fruition by Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Salaam Remi, known for his collaborations with artists such as Alicia Keys, Nas, Miguel, The Fugees, and Amy Winehouse, which have established him as a prominent figure in the music world. Salaam Remi’s “Analog Metaverse” oversees the management of Dennis Brown’s estate and has teamed up with Warner Chappell Music to manage Dennis Brown’s extensive songwriting catalog.
