With the release of Dubclaat, Etana revisits her hits through the lens of dub, stripping back vocals, embracing the echoes, and reverbs. Released on September 19, 2025, via Freemind Music, the album features 11 dub versions of her songs like Jah Love, Don’t Give Up, 100 on the Highway, and more. World A Reggae never shies away from a well-done dub album, and Dubclaat is a powerful reminder that dub is still a driving force in Jamaican and global music. Calling her album Dubclaat also shows a piece of Etana’s raw side, unfiltered and not afraid to spark conversation.
Side note: Dubclaat is a well-crafted dub album, and the production is clearly where the love and detail went. It only makes me wish the same level of care had been given to the cover art, to fully match the power of the music inside. Sadly, we see this more often nowadays, album covers losing the power and design skills they once carried, especially with the rise of AI tools that kill creativity in artwork. In reggae’s history, the album sleeve was almost as iconic as the music itself, and that tradition deserves to be kept alive.
