MoodCollector, the Belgian outfit from the Kempen region in Flanders, are back with a fresh single called Mighty Shining Fire. And if you’re looking for a tune that brings sunshine, good energy, and a proper skanking vibe, this one ticks all the boxes. It’s got that easy Summer feeling that makes you want to turn up the volume and move.
At the heart of MoodCollector’s sound, you’ll find infectious ska and reggae riddims, backed by guitars, vocals, trombone, saxophone, and lush Hammond and keyboard touches. There’s history behind the band too. Before MoodCollector, several members played in Dill Brothers, a Belgian ska/reggae group that built a strong reputation as one of the Kempen region’s favourite party bands for fifteen years. When the band split in 2004, it looked like the story had ended. But reggae has a way of pulling people back in. A few years down the line, some of those musicians reunited, reignited the flame, and launched MoodCollector.
