When Scientist told me he’d be live-dubbing the unique, extremely talented, reggae-punk band Blanc du Blanc in a barn in New Jersey, and that I should come see the show, he also told me that by the time the evening was over: horses would be dancing. While I did take photos of a silver-clad and costumed Scientist with several beautiful equines in a pastoral setting—the type not accustomed to live dub, a music that is bass-heavy, that you feel in your body’s deepest recesses, like in your throbbing heart and in your liberated soul—I wasn’t able to get any good shots of the horses later on that night as they skanked in their stalls. I was too busy documenting via video recording and photography the irie sights and sounds emanating from the stage so that I could provide them here for the benefit of all Reggae-Vibes readers.

Blanc du Blanc, a refreshing sound in reggae and dub music, when paired with the legendary sound engineer and dub pioneer, Scientist, also known as Hopeton Brown, has achieved new heights in sound fragrancy with their third LP and new studio album, an album that every music fan should download or buy on vinyl: “Scientist Meets Blanc Du Blanc: Before the Beginning.”

I hope you enjoy these sights and sounds from Blanc du Blanc’s album release party on April 26 in New Jersey. Please check back here at Reggae-Vibes in several weeks for more exclusive videos and photos of Scientist’s recent work in the Soul Selects studio—in Hopewell Burrough, New Jersey—with Blanc du Blanc. Coming also will be a very interesting, in-depth interview of Blanc du Blanc’s bandleader, master multi-instrumentalist Chris Harford. Bless up to all the reggae fans!
