The Small Axe, Jesse Royal, who earned a GRAMMY nomination in 2022 for his second album Royal, has closed August with his brand-new project No Place Like Home (on Easy Star Records) on August 29. The 10-track album includes earlier singles such as ‘Blessing‘ (featuring Yohan Marley), ‘Light Of Mine,’ ‘Hope’ (with Romain Virgo), and ‘Your Soul,‘ alongside six fresh songs featuring Canadian R&B singer Melanie Fiona, Kabaka Pyramid, and Perfect Giddimani.
With reggae clearly as its foundation, the album fuses genres. Moving through soul, R&B, a hint of dancehall, and hip hop/rap influences, all delivered with Jesse Royal’s unique flair. The project reflects on both personal and current situations in Jamaica, while offering messages of strength and inspiration to the youth and the wider world.
