Today, August 22, 2025, Keznamdi McDonald released his new full-length project BLXXD & FYAH on the Keznamdi Music Group Label. As we are used to from Keznamdi, the 13-track album carries a strong message, rooted in struggle, resilience, and transformation, blending roots reggae with modern influences.
Guest appearances add extra firepower, with his sis Kelissa on I Am, Mavado and Marlon Asher on Bun Di Ganja (Roots Version), a re-lick on Chezidek’s 2013 hook, and Masicka on Forever Grateful. The album moves through themes of identity, colonial history, and spiritual grounding with tracks like Colonial Bondage, Natty Dread Locks (one of our personal favourites on the album), and River Jordan. Special mention needs to be given to Keznamdi’s tribute to the great Toots Hibbert on Pomps and Pride.
In Keznamdi’s own words (in an interview with Digital Journal) the album title reflects sacrifice and renewal: blood symbolizing the price paid in the struggle, and fire standing for growth and the burning away of what must be left behind. That balance of pain and uplift shines through songs like Identity Crisis, Pressure, and the closing track Time.
Clocking in at around 45 minutes, BLXXD & FYAH is a statement with its heavyweight collaborations and powerful storytelling. Keznamdi positions this project as both a continuation of reggae’s roots tradition and a push forward into new territory. One of the better reggae releases we have heard this 2025.
BLXXD & FYAH is out now on all major platforms.
