New juggling project: Blessings Of Love Riddim from Maximum Sound | News
The package gives you seven vocal cuts and one dub mix to close things out, the latter engineered by Gregory Morris. If the name rings a bell, it should. Morris has clocked up dub credits for Chronixx, Protoje, Beres Hammond, Lila Ike and more, so Frenchie knew exactly who to call when it came to that department.
Out front is Busy Signal with Why Love. He’s been navigating both the fast-paced dancehall lane and the roots side of things since the early 2000s, and there aren’t many artists who can move between those two worlds as comfortably. Ce’Cile follows with Not Today, bringing that assertive, R&B-tinged style she’s been known for since she came into the industry in the late 1990s. Then Pressure Busspipe from the US Virgin Islands delivers All For Love, leaning into that melodic chanting delivery that took him global with Love and Affection back in 2007. Mr. Vegas holds Only Human, a man whose career runs from the late-90s club anthems all the way through to roots-leaning material, so he fits right in on a project like this.
Ginjah steps up for Church. He came up under the guidance of Beres Hammond and has carved out a name for himself with reality-based lyrics, so that track should have some weight to it. Then there’s Tanzie with One In A Million, the daughter of Queen Ifrica and Tony Rebel, two of Jamaica’s most respected cultural artists. Her talent speaks for itself and she’s been building her own catalog steadily over the past few years. And rounding things out is JahZeal, also known as Grimsinger, with Life Is A Blessing. Mentored by Busy Signal, he’s been focused on bringing live instrumentation into modern production, which gives him a different feel from a lot of his contemporaries.
Strong selection from Frenchie all round. Maximum Sound staying consistent, and the Blessings Of Love Riddim is worth your time.
