Six months after captivating his loyal fans with the Willie Lindo-produced album Feeling Irie, Glen Washington, the veteran artist from May Pen, Clarendon, returns with yet another full-length project. Titled Just Giving Thanks, this 14-track album is produced by Tad Dawkins Jr and released under the Tad’s Record label.
Infused with lots of relicked classic Jamaican riddims, the album benefits from the expertise of accomplished musicians, including bassists Flabba Holt of the Roots Radics Band and Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis of The Firehouse Crew, keyboardist Franklyn “Bubbler” Waul of the Taxi Gang, drummer Kirk Bennett, and saxophonist Dean Fraser. Washington’s latest offering showcases a seamless mix of heartfelt romantic ballads and spiritually uplifting tunes, reinforcing his signature style and enduring appeal.
Glen Washington consistently delivers albums that leave a lasting positive impression, and his latest offering, Just Giving Thanks, is no exception. The artist’s appealing vocal style, combined with the familiar and timeless riddims that form the foundation of each track, enhance the album’s undeniable charm.
Tracks like Chant Them Down, Oh, To Be Like H.I.M, Seeking Jah Love, and the superb Square One across the Real Rock riddim exude a wonderful spiritual essence, drawing listeners in with their captivating energy. Meanwhile, the romantic tunes are undeniably charming, delivering a warmth and sweetness that make them a joy to experience.
