Keith Poppin, born Keith Smith in 1949, is an artist who can look back on a long career, starting in the 1960s and still active to this day. Until the late 1980s he released music regularly, including three albums. Then it became quiet around him for a long time, he also moved to the USA, where he still lives. In 1968, Keith Poppin, as a member of The Robins, recorded some tracks for the legendary producer Coxsone Dodd at Studio One. Two of these recordings, Bad Mind Grudgeful and Wailing Time, have been reissued in France at the end of last year. Originally released in 1968 under the name Winston & The Robins, these tracks showcase Poppin’s songwriting and lead vocals, expertly backed by the renowned Studio One house band, Sound Dimension. Bad Mind Grudgeful and Wailing Time have enjoyed enduring popularity, appearing on two compilations, Rock Steady Coxsone Style and the 1980s double CD Clement “Coxsone” Dodd – Musical Fever 1967-1968.
