The album presents itself as a heterogeneous project, reflecting the diverse musical influences of the eight members of the band. Although reggae is the foundation, clear nuances of blues, R&B, and funk can be perceived, creating a fresh and dynamic sound. This “haphazardness” in mixing genres is one of the album’s strengths, making it interesting and never predictable.
Among the tracks, the more energetic and rhythmic ones certainly stand out, perfect for carefree listening. The band demonstrates solid musical cohesion, with a powerful and precise rhythm section, incisive guitar riffs, and a horn section that adds color and depth to the sound. The vocals, with their variety of timbres, integrate well into the musical fabric, alternating as protagonists and creating engaging harmonies.
The production, handled by the band themselves at the R Studio in Oderzo (TV), sounds authentic and well-defined, enhancing the live energy that shines through the tracks. The album flows pleasantly, with a duration of about 33 minutes spread across 10 tracks, keeping the listener’s attention high.
Haphazard is an album recommended for those who love reggae with soul and funk influences, and for those who appreciate genuine sounds played with passion. With this work, The Admirals demonstrate that they have clear ideas and the ability to create engaging and original music, while remaining faithful to their musical roots. A highly recommended listen for anyone looking for a fresh and positive sound.
