Their fruitful period with producer Derrick Harriott propelled them to widespread recognition, yielding chart-topping singles like Singer Man and Sufferer.
Following their departure from Harriott, they briefly worked with producer Leslie Kong who produced their 1969 single I’m Gonna Make It b/w I Need You Tomorrow, released on Beverley’s Records in Jamaica, and subsequently in the UK by Trojan records. These tracks perfectly exemplify their ability to fuse compelling vocal harmonies with the evolving reggae sound.
Backed by the Beverley’s All Stars, known for their exceptional musicianship, and benefiting from Leslie Kong’s meticulous production, the single showcases two distinct sides of The Kingstonians’ artistry. I’m Gonna Make It delivers a powerful message of self-assurance, while I Need You Tomorrow expresses heartfelt romantic sentiments.
With its crisp Beverley’s sound, this is a recommended reissue for fans of classic early reggae.
