The 2013 release of several tracks on the Honey Pot riddim propelled Silly Walks Discotheque to even greater success. With its instantly recognizable, infectious hooks, the riddim evokes a warm, familiar feeling, compelling listeners to hum along and move along. The grooves are so irresistible, they inspire endless, guilt-free repeated plays. The tunes were released as 7″ singles, including the riddim’s breakout hit, Chronixx’s Smile Jamaica.
While many tracks on the Honey Pot riddim explore themes of love and relationships, Jah9, RC, and Torch offer notable exceptions. Da’Ville’s One In A Million is a clear declaration of love and admiration, while RC (Righteous Child) reflects on past struggles in Why Should I. Chronixx delivers the irresistible Smile Jamaica, a track with a chorus that’s impossible not to sing along to. Jah9 takes a more serious approach with Brothers, a positive reality tune.
The following 7″ single features Ginjah’s gorgeous Sweet Killer, an interesting perspective on love, and Torch’s Good Reggae Music, a glorious ode to reggae music and its culture. In 2024, Silly Walks Discotheque followed up the initial Honey Pot riddim releases with two more 7″ singles showcasing four new tracks. King Diel from Jamaica delivers a smooth and relaxed performance with Sweet Love, while the enigmatic NVT3L, a New York R&B/Soul artist with a reggae affinity, impresses on the flipside. The Tribulizations, a Brighton vocal reggae duo, add a feminine touch with Oh What A Feeling, and young Jamaican reggae singer Joby Jay, known for blending other genres into her reggae, offers a tender declaration of love to her boyfriend in You Stole My Heart.
