Maxi Priest has two tracks, rich in Rasta imagery, the respectful Nyabingi Love with the Rasta lion talking to his lioness, and an excellent remix which also features the fiery “revolutionary lyricist” Kabaka Pyramid. J.C. Lodge is as sweet and sultry as always on her conscious lover’s cut Step Up, whilst Jamelody bigs up reggae music as he tells us how it Keeps Me Rocking.
Omar Perry, son of Scratch, has a fine, impassioned, updated, sing-jay styled workout, riding the rhythm in fine style on Better Than, Lutan Fyah adds the Bobo Dread viewpoint and sound with the empathetic My Heart Cries, and the excellent singing of George Nooks (the former Prince Mohamed) has just a slight tinge of Dennis Brown to it – never a bad thing – as the riddim reveals just how tough it can be. More please!
