For the first time in their 19-year run, Tribal Seeds will perform in Spain, stepping onto the stage at Rototom Sunsplash 2025 in Benicàssim. It’s a long-awaited moment, not just for the band, but for fans across Europe who’ve followed their journey from day one.
“We grew up on the pioneers of reggae, and Rototom’s focus on message and meaning aligns perfectly with everything we stand for,” they said ahead of the show.
Hailing from San Diego, the band formed back in 2005 after brothers Steven and Tony-Ray Jacobo were inspired by legends like Burning Spear and Midnite. Since then, they’ve built a global following with a sound that blends roots reggae, dub, and the raw spirit of the California border towns they came up in. Their music now counts over 1.3 billion streams, with the most recent album Ancient Blood featuring collaborations with Kabaka Pyramid, Twinkle Brothers, Romain Virgo, and more.
At Rototom, they’ll be coming with the full force, a 9-piece lineup. Expect a big sound.
Suckarie (known for his work with New Kingston), who brings the Jamaican vocal tone to the frontline, Shams, who drops verses in Spanish, and Gonzo, with Cuban/Mexican roots, all take turns carrying the energy. ZEB, longtime drummer for Detour Posse, locks down the riddim with decades of experience backing reggae legends. The horns and keys bring that final texture, with Warren, Cade, and Bok (from Guam) pushing the live sound to another level.
“We’re just here to give all the love and energy we can,” the band says. “Hopefully this is just the first of many times we touch that Rototom stage.”
Fans heading to Rototom Sunsplash 2025 won’t want to miss Tribal Seeds’ first-ever show in Spain, a proper moment in reggae history.
